A simple step-by-step guide to what happens when a loved one passes away.
When death occurs, the family should contact local authorities if necessary and then immediately contact Janazah services.
The body must be washed as soon as possible. We arrange for the body to be transported to a facility where Ghusl can be performed.
After washing, the body is shrouded in clean white cloth (Kafan) according to the Sunnah.
The community gathers to perform the Salatul Janazah. It is a prayer standing up with 4 Takbeers.
"Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem. Alhamdulillahi Rabbil 'Alameen. Ar-Rahmanir-Raheem. Maliki Yawmid-Deen. Iyyaka Na'budu Wa Iyyaka Nasta'een. Ihdinas-Siral-Mustaqeem. Siratal-Lazeena An'amta 'Alayhim, Ghayril Maghdubi 'Alayhim Walad-Dalleen."
Allahumma man ahyaytahu minna fa ahyihi 'alal-Islam, wa man tawaffaytahu minna fatawaffahu 'alal-Iman."
Silent prayer for the Ummah, followed by "Assalamu 'alaykum wa Rahmatullah" (turning head to the right, then left).
The deceased is taken to the cemetery for burial. This should be done rapidly, ideally within 24 hours.
